Activism and Non-Violence
w/ Nina Koevoets "The world will be at peace when the power of love overcomes the love of power" ~ Jimi Hendrix "When fear is used to control us, love is how we rebel" ~ Rivera Sun, Dandelion Insurrection Nina will offer an introduction to the 'basics' of Nonviolence in practice: a mix of self-reflection & social action, putting boundaries & inviting for dialogue. She will also let you explore different forms of power. The second day we will be walking to Distomo, so we will hear more about some activists who have walked for peace, as well as other people who can inspire us to change to world. On day three we will visit the museum of Distomo that describes the massacre of 214 villagers by the German army, when Greece was under German occupation in 1944. That day we will make a “truth mandala”, as created by Joanna Macy, a ritual that helps us to process the suffering that has happened in this village. We will also explore more of the work of Macy and hear about a Buddhist prophecy... To close the session, everyone will get the time to speak about their future plans, in another kind of 'ritualized' setting. |
