SINGING AND COMMUNITY BUILDING
What is that, which out of many stones together can manifest a palace? What is that, which out of many voices together can manifest music? What is that? In our first workshop of the second period, « I and We », Eric Noyer will guide us, personally and as a group, into forming a choir. His unique approach offers various extremely efficient and enjoyable practices which will support us in discovering, exploring, transforming and developing different aspects of our inner construction, crucial in the quality of our balance between self and the whole.
We will work on coordination, through sound and through movement, within our own body and with the bodies around us, between the seen and the unseen, touching upon the perception of a greater body that encompasses us all. We will work with rhythm, shining light on our own inner rhythms, in our relation with time, with being and doing, listening and expressing, giving and receiving. We will work with pitch, with tone and with harmony, experiencing how each different harmony asks for a specific inner adjustment in order to be held, and heard. And how each new adjustment opens up perspectives on new ways of relating to ourselves, to others and to the whole. We will practice improvisation. We will tune ourselves as instruments, reaching a space where there no longer is an inside and an outside, just one unified world. .« How do I open to others without losing myself? »
« How do I stand in a group while deeply rooted in my own ground? » All along we will be receiving embodied answers to those questions. Cultivating presence to self, to others and to the strength of music. No need to have previous experience with music or to have a « good » voice.
