Yoga and Mindfulness
with Gemma Mallol
An invitation to re-awaken the natural intelligence of the body,
that has an innate healing and organizational capacity within it.
I offer a somatic approach to yoga asana, movement and meditation practices that cultivates the capacity to inhabit, investigate and integrate the many layers of our being - the physiological, emotional, physical, and psychological in a holistic and intimate way, opening the door to personal and liberating transformation.
Instead of stressing and straining the body into shapes and breathing patterns that may override this innate intelligence, these practices invite us to gently listen and to feel inside, so the body can find its own voice and respond through its own unique healing “song”.
During the week we will explore a range of creative and intuitive ways to explore movement through yoga asana and mindful movement deepening awareness through body, breath, feeling, sensing, and perceiving. The work is supported by more formal Mindfulness and Metta meditation practices from the Buddhist Insight Tradition.
My approach is a synthesis of mainly Scaravelli inspired Yoga, Buddhist Insight Meditation and techniques from Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing (body orientated trauma therapy)
I am a Senior Yoga Teacher with the UK Yoga Alliance.
