Dreamtime

November & December

The first weeks of SOAR will be focused on development of community. Projects will be centered on the land at Oikia Karapanou, the home-base for the programme. The group will work to create a "common language" of community agreements, find their daily rhythm, and distribute the tasks of daily life, such as cooking and cleaning.

This time will also introduce participants to practices that will be used throughout the duration of SOAR. Meditation and body work will be taught as a method for personal reflection, while practices such as the Way of Council will be introduced as a foundational way to stay connected to the group. Participants will also become acclimated to the culture of Aegina through interactions with local teachers, friends and activists around the island.

January & February

The second portion of SOAR is rooted in self-inquiry. The primary focus of this time will be on deepening each person's relationship to their gifts and potential work in the world. Participants will choose an area of interest in the local community (i.e. arts, education, animal care, social work, fishing, agriculture, pottery, gardening) where they can form a mentorship, develop experience, and better understand the daily life of Aegina.

Within the SOAR group during this time, workshops will focus on emotional and spiritual development
and on personal expression.  Forum will be introduced as well as other tools, supporting the participants towards the realization of their personal project.

March & April

The third phase of SOAR will focus on coming together as a community. Using the knowledge gained during their internship and  the tools for facilitation and project building gathered in the workshops, the participants will
work as a team to create an event for the local community, that they will present and host during the Open Week-End.

April & May

The time has come for The Caravan. As a final treat, a month long trek towards Delphi will allow participants to immerse themselves in the natural world, come to terms with their limits, discover the value of physical effort and get a taste of the unforgettable solidarity of a long term group adventure.

Once the trek is completed, the participants will begin a guided process of reflection on their six-month journey. This process of incorporation will remind them of all they have done, help prepare each person to return to their community and empower them to bring the teachings they have gained into the world.
